Machining Camp was developed with multiple learning frameworks in mind, allowing the team to ensure that each child's experience is learning forward. The three frameworks chosen each represent different aspects of adolescent learning and address our goals.

Framework for 21st Century learning

The Framework for 21st Century learning was developed by Battelle for Kids, a non-for-profit organization that works with schools. This framework is focused on preparing students using the 21st century technologies. It acknowledges the digital connection of today's students and their global access.

The Octalysis Framework for Gamification & Behavioral Design

The Octalysis Framework, developed by Yu-Kai Chou, focuses on how to best connect to the motivation of students. By analyzing video games with this framework, the eight core drives are clear and when they're applied to human activities it's called Gamification. Gamification is a way to engage students in tasks by taking their feelings and what drives them into consideration.

PCRN Employability Skills Framework

The Perkins Collaborative Resource Network Employability Skills Framework was compiled by the U.S. Department of Education. The framework focuses on "Employability Skills" which have a basis in interpersonal and applied personal skills.
